Camil Dumont grew up in Vancouver, on the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. He attended l’École Bilingue and Kitsilano Secondary, and later earned both a B.A. and an M.Sc. from the University of British Columbia.
In his twenties, Camil worked in horticulture with the Vancouver Park Board, where he developed a strong connection to public green spaces and local governance. In 2009, he co-founded Inner City Farms and spent over a decade as Head Farmer and Executive Director, expanding access to urban agriculture and sustainable food system education. The ICF farm gates closed for the last time in 2021.
Camil went from Parks worker to Parks Commissioner when he was elected as a Green to the Vancouver Park Board in 2018. He twice served as Board Chair during his term.
Since 2020, Camil has been a member of the Leadership Team at the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems, at the UBC Farm. He manages the Education Portfolio. Camil values community, laughing, sharing food, conversation and ideas, and is grounded by his love for the natural world the support of his family and friends.
